Slow Death 04/2010 Joshua Abelow

Making work
over a period
of several years
is akin to digging
a tunnel. Progress
happens little by
little. You dig and
dig and as you dig you
go deeper and deeper.
It gets darker and
darker. Then there's
no more light. You

can't see anything.
It's all very quiet. You
say to yourself, "This is
wonderful. This silence
is better than the sweetest
music I have ever known."
It doesn't matter what your
hands or feet or face
look like in there. You don't
need those things where
you're going.
